Find out how this innovative weight loss medication could help you lose excess
weight fast
Obesity is a serious issue in the UK. More than 20 per cent of UK adults are classified as medically obese, and a further third of the population are overweight. These figures have risen rapidly in recent years as we as a society spent more time behind a desk and fewer hours taking part in physical activity. From car commutes to office jobs and long hours spent binge watching in front of the TV, the modern lifestyle has played a significant role in our expanding waistlines.
And obesity isn’t just a case of looking overweight — it can serious implications on your overall health. Obesity is a major contributing factor in a significant number of serious health conditions, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease and arthritis.
With weight gain posing such health concerns, many people turn to weight loss medication as a way of shedding pounds quickly. The latest of these is Mysimba: an innovative weight loss treatment that is both safe and effective.
What is Mysimba?
One of the main reasons people struggling to lose weight is related to mindset. Aspects such as excessive hunger, struggling to manage portion sizes and stress eating can all make it extremely difficult to lose weight with confidence. Mysimba acts as an effective weight loss medication by reducing feelings of hunger and alleviating food cravings.
Studies have documented that, when used alongside a healthy diet and an increase in physical activity, Mysimba can lead to significant weight loss results. Mysimba can help you lose an average of 5 per cent of your total body weight used with a healthy eating regime, compared to a loss of just 1 per cent in individuals who used diet alone. In fact, 42 per cent of Mysimba users lost at least 5 per cent of their total body weight, whereas only 17 per cent of individuals not using Mysimba lost 5 per cent.
How does Mysimba work?
Mysimba uses a combination of two active ingredients: bupropion and naltrexone. Both of these ingredients have been used previously for different purposes — bupropion as an antidepressant and a stop smoking medication, and naltrexone to reduce alcohol dependence. However, Mysimba marks the first time these ingredients have been combined.
The combination of naltrexone and bupropion acts on the part of the brain which controls energy balance and food intake, controlling the pleasure associated with eating food. This allows Mysimba to reduce feelings of hunger and alleviate food cravings.
Mysimba can also reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol. As such, diabetic using Mysimba have found it helps improve their blood sugar control.
How do you take Mysimba?
Mysimba comes in an accessible tablet form which can be taken with or without food. Regular dosage starts by taking one tablet each morning for the first week, then one tablet taken morning and evening in the second week. During the third week of using Mysimba, two tablets are taken in the morning and one tablet taken in the evening, and in the fourth week two tablets can be taken morning and night.
Mysimba can help you lose 5 per cent of your total body weight in 16 weeks. If you haven’t lost 5 per cent of your total body weight after 16 weeks, it’s best to stop the treatment.
Could you benefit from Mysimba?
Mysimba is a great weight loss treatment solution for any adult over 18 with a body mass index (BMI) over 30. A BMI over 30 indicates obesity, meaning you could benefit from a course of Mysimba. In cases of weight-related co-morbidities like type 2 diabetes or controlled hypertension, a BMI over 27 could mean that Mysimba is the right weight loss medication for you.

ReplyDear Yvette,
Thank you for reading our blog. There are no interactions between Amitriptyline with Mysimba, or Mirtazapine with Mysimba.
However, there is a slight interaction with Amittrityline and Mirtazapine, as both taken together can cause drowsiness. Just please ensure that you're being monitored by your GP regularly.
I am more than happy to discuss further information about Mysimba and dietary advice, directly on 020 8993 5889, should you wish to.

ReplyHi there, I'm really interested in trying Mysimba however I'm on HRT indefinitely. One side effect of the HRT is weight gain :( so I've put on a stone in a mouth :( not good.
Do you think it would be ok to take Mysimba along side the HRT?
Thank you

ReplyHi Lara,
side effects are common with MySimba. It may be that the medication has caused you to have that response to smoking (stopping smoking is never a bad thing of course!) Please contact us so that our nutrionist can have a chat with you. Please email marina@expresspharmacy.co.uk
