Fexofenadine Hydrochloride Tablets


Generic antihistamine medication that is prescribed to relieve the symptoms of hay fever.

 

What is Fexofenadine?

Fexofenadine hydrochloride is an anti-histamine medicine for adults and adolescents over the age of 12 years that is used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever (season allergic rhinitis) such as sneezing, itchy, runny or blocked nose and itchy, red and watery eyes.

How the medication works

When your body is exposed to pollen, there is a chance that it will result in allergic symptoms, commonly known as hay fever. When this happens, the cells in the inner lining of your nose release a chemical called histamine, which in turn leads to inflammation and symptoms of hay fever such as sneezing, itching and a runny nose.

Fexonfenadine is a non-drowsy anti-histamine and works by preventing the release of the chemical that causes symptoms of hay fever.

How to take?

For adults with seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever): 120 mg taken once a day with water and prior to eating, if possible.

Do not take Fexofenadine if you are pregnant, unless absolutely necessary. It is not recommended for use during breast-feeding.

Common Side Effects

  • Headache
  • Drowsiness (although the medication is non-drowsy, it can cause drowsiness in some people)
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness

Had terribly itchy skin, blocked nose, swollen eyes.. miserable in one word! Till I found this medicine and now I can enjoy the spring with out the fear of hayfever! I recommend it to anyone suffering like me! :)
