What is Finasteride?

Finasteride is used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss on the vertex and the anterior mid-scalp area. Male pattern hair loss is a common condition in which men experience thinning of the hair on the scalp. Often, this results in a receding hairline and/or balding on the top of the head. Propecia is for use by men only and should not be used by women or children.

How effective is Finasteride?

Studies have shown that 9 in 10 men notice improvements when taking Finasteride for 5 years. Some men stop losing hair, and others see regrowth of hair.

How does Finasteride work?

Finasteride works by preventing testosterone from being converted to the DHT hormone. The DHT hormone can sometimes prevent hair growth. This then allows hair follicles to regain their normal size.

How to take it

One tablet a day on an ongoing basis. If you stop taking it you're likely to start losing your hair again.

How quickly it works

When used to treat male pattern baldness you should notice the effects and stop losing your hair within three to six months. Nine out of ten men find notice visible results over a 5 year period.
