Osteocare Original is a calcium combination supplement that has been scientifically developed by the UK’s number one calcium supplement brand. We all lose bone mass as we age, which is why it’s important to ensure our bodies are getting an adequate amount of calcium.
Based on the most recent global findings, Osteocare Original provides 100% Nutrient Reference Value of Calcium, as well as Zinc and Selenium to contribute to the maintenance of normal bone health.

Developed for both men and women of all ages, Osteocare Original provides a rich source of calcium, as well as Vitamin D and additional supporting nutrients. The formula is based on both large-scale scientific studies and the most recent international findings that examine the role of nutrients in normal bone health. Vitamin D within the supplement’s formula helps with the normal absorption of calcium in the body, having been developed in keeping with the most recent ‘Vitamin D and Bone Health’ guidelines for regular maintenance intake, as outlined by the Royal Osteoporosis Society (2018).
The UK Department of Health recommends that we should all consider taking a daily supplement that contains Vitamin D, especially throughout the colder months of autumn and winter. The new and improved formula of Osteocare Original provides 25μg of Vitamin D3*, also identified as Cholecalciferol. Vitamin D3 is the type of Vitamin D that is produced by the human body and is therefore considered more efficient than Vitamin D2.
By supplying 100% NRV (Nutrient Reference Value) of calcium, Osteocare Original supplements provide a sufficient consumption of the mineral that is so important to both men and women of all ages. Receiving the adequate intake of both calcium and trace elements helps contribute to optimal bone mineralisation.
While it’s essential that we all receive enough calcium, it’s especially important for men and women who are over 50 years old, and for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Based on the Department of Health Committee on the Medical Aspects of Food and Nutrition Policy (1998), The Royal Osteoporosis Society recommends that a pregnant woman’s daily calcium intake should be 700 mg, while for breastfeeding women it is suggested to be 700 + 550 mg.
Receiving enough calcium is also important for women both during and after menopause, as they can often lose bone mass faster than men once they have experienced this change.
Women’s dietary calcium intake may also decrease as they grow older, and it’s therefore important they get enough calcium during this period of time.

Why Osteocare Original?
Expertly developed, Osteocare Original’s formula has been created to contribute to the maintenance of normal bone health. There are many different reasons as to why we may be deficient in getting enough calcium, and therefore people may be missing out on the nutrients that keep our bones healthy.
A common reason for many people to be lacking in calcium is their diet. Some eating regimes result in cutting out dairy for various motives, from food allergies and dairy intolerances, to vegan diets. The Osteocare Original supplement includes Calcium, Zinc and Magnesium to contribute to bone health, as well as Vitamin D to help provide the absorption and utilisation of calcium within the body.
Research shows that the peak bone mass obtained during our childhoods and adolescent growth is incredibly important in terms of preserving and sustaining bones in later life. This is a clear indication of how important it is to look after our bones to decrease the chances of problems occurring in later life with regards to fractures and falls.
The Royal Osteoporosis Society suggests that the daily calcium intake for boys and girls aged 11 to 18 years should be 1000 / 800 mg, and for those over 19 years, the recommended daily intake is 700 mg.
For younger children, 350 mg is the suggested daily intake of calcium for those aged 1-3 years, 450 mg a day for those aged 4-6, and 550 mg for those in the age bracket of 7-10 years of age. The Osteocare Original supplement provides a convenient way of ensuring we are getting an adequate amount of calcium each day, to maintain the health of normal bones.
When Is Best To Start Taking Osteocare Original?
The Osteocare Original supplement has been developed for long-term use and can therefore be taken for as long as it is required. Studies show that the sooner we receive an adequate supply of these important nutrients, the better it is for both men and women.
While valuable to us all, receiving enough calcium is especially important to certain groups of people, including those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, elderly people, athletes, women during and after experiencing the menopause, and for those whose dietary requirements mean they avoid food and drinks that contain calcium.
Having been approved by The Vegetarian Society, Osteocare Original is suitable for both vegetarians and vegan diets and is not tested on animals, making it an ideal supplement for those who avoid animal by-products. The supplement is also available in the form of a chewable tablet, so those who struggle to swallow tablets can still take Osteocare Original.
What Is the Source of Calcium Used in Osteocare Original?
Calcium Carbonate, the maximum possible concentration of elemental calcium within a supplement, is the source used within Osteocare Original. By using a high pharmaceutical grade Calcium Carbonate (from a natural source) within the formula, the full NRV of calcium and various other minerals is provided within the supplement, as opposed to taking large quantities of various tablets. Osteocare Original does not include Bone-Dolomite or Oyster Calcium within its formula, to avoid any possibility of contamination with metals.
How and When Should I Take Osteocare Original?
The recommended intake of Osteocare Original is two tablets daily, or one tablet twice daily, and should be taken either before or with a meal. The tablets should be swallowed with water or a cold drink - be sure to take the tablet with enough liquid to wash it down. It is not recommended to chew the tablets.
Calcium supplement tablets can often be larger than other supplements, resulting in the Osteocare Original tablet being specifically designed in a streamlined, oval shape to make it easier to swallow. For those who still struggle to take the tablet, Vitabiotics have researched an alternative method that may make this easier. Their recommendation is to chew some food, and then put the tablet into your mouth and swallow both food and tablet together in one. Follow this by drinking some liquid.
Our throats open wider when swallowing chewed food, resulting in the tablet making its way down with greater ease. Another recommendation is to swallow the tablets with a thick drink such as a smoothie, or with a yoghurt. Osteocare Original is also available in both a chewable form and a liquid form, ideal for children over 3 years old and for those who find it difficult to take tablets.
Are Osteocare Original Tablets Absorbed as Quickly as The Osteocare Liquid Version?
The Osteocare Original tablets have been tested to make sure their formulas have accurate disintegration and dissolution profiles. These pharmaceutical disintegration tests show the tablets to disintegrate, on average, between 6 and 15 minutes, tested under the same comparative acidic conditions that the stomach possesses. Results show that the nutrients within the tablet will absorb at approximately the same rate as the liquid version of the supplement once the tablets have disintegrated.
How Many Tablets Are There in Each Pack of Osteocare Original?
Osteocare Original is available in both 30 tablet packs and 90 tablet packs. It is recommended that you take two tablets per day, and this intake should not be exceeded.
Is It Safe For Some Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) Levels To Be Above 100%?
The Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) helps to prevent basic deficiency states within the overall population. While specific vitamins are safe at levels tens or hundreds of times the NRV, other safety levels can be closer to the NRV. This means that each vitamin and mineral needs to be considered on an individual basis of its upper safe level.
Some vitamins and minerals that are above the NRV have shown to provide positive benefits in specific areas of health, resulting in some Vitabiotics formulas having certain nutrient levels that are greater than 100% NRV.
Vitabiotics have always stressed the significance of safe, sensible and moderate intake of vitamins and minerals, all of which are carefully balanced to maximise their combined effect. They avoid ‘mega dose’ levels of vitamins and minerals – an approach that has been backed by researchers throughout the years. Developed using the most recent research, Vitabiotics products contain effective levels of vitamins and minerals in accordance with these upper safe limits and avoid excessive amounts.
Can I Take Osteocare Original Alongside Any Other Vitabiotics Product?
The Osteocare Original supplement has been developed so that it can be used in combination with any of the other products within the Vitabiotics multivitamin and mineral range. The supplement can also be used in combination with other food supplements, for instance fish oil supplements, or garlic supplements. Nonetheless, it is recommended that for maximum results, you take Osteocare Original at a separate time of day from your main Vitabiotics multivitamin, or at the very least, an hour apart from each other.
Can I Take Osteocare Original With Other Medications?
Osteocare Original can be taken in conjunction with other medications due to the fact it only contains moderate levels of both minerals and Vitamin D. However, we recommend that you contact your doctor or health professional first for specific advice on taking the supplement.
Can Calcium Supplements, Like Osteocare Original, Cause Kidney Stones?
Osteocare Original’s formula includes Calcium in combination with additional synergistic co-factors, such as Magnesium. The existence of the Mineral Magnesium not only contributes to normal protein synthesis and electrolyte balance, but also helps contribute to the maintenance of normal bones as well.
